Our Mission

The Alburys Charitable Foundation (TACF) has been set up fo fulfil the wishes of its founders.  Those wishes are dominated by their desire to support:

• disadvantaged children
• organisations involved in animal welfare
• young artists in the world of musical theatre

In order to address these wishes, TACF defines its purpose specifically as making grants to other small and local charities or other organisations engaged in the following activities:

• In relation to young people: the relief of children in need by reason of ill-health, disability or financial hardship.
• In relation to animal welfare: protecting species indigenous to the UK and/or their habitats or providing a welfare environment for abandoned or displaced domestic animals.
• In relation to the arts: helping young artists to develop their careers in musical theatre.

It is important for TACF to remain knowledgeable of, and involved with, all recipients of our grants, and therefore we work with charities located in South London, Kent and Surrey that are close enough to our home to make visiting relatively easy.

Under its constitution TACF also has the freedom to make donations to major charities at the time of an international emergency and it will do so when the Trustees believe it to be the right thing to do.

TACF will normally make grants to other charities registered with The Charities Commission in the UK.

We will also consider making grants to organisations which are not registered but which have objectives that are charitable in nature and match our stated charitable purposes.

TACF does not specify particular outcomes in its constitution. The outcomes resulting from grants made by TACF will be the outcomes achieved by the recipients of those grants.

TACF may also provide funds to other charities indirectly as a result of sponsoring individuals or groups of people in the UK who are participating in an event with the aim of raising funds for their chosen charity.

Our areas of operation include the Southern London Boroughs and the Counties of Surrey and Kent.

The reason for choosing areas of operation that are close to our home base is that we intend to visit the charities and other organisations that we might support, meet some of the personnel involved and observe at first hand the activities in which they are engaged.

We may make grants to organisations which have an operational base outside these areas but charitable activities within them.

In recognition of London’s pre-eminent position as the centre for arts and culture in the UK, our support for young artists in the world of musical theatre may extend to organisations which are based in London but which have no presence necessarily in the geographical areas described above.

There will be no geographical restrictions to the support we might give occasionally to major charities at the time of an international emergency.
